I'm Tim Curran, producer, mixing engineer and owner of Studio 411, an uncommon recording studio that is the realization of all of my musical passions: songwriting, production, performing, recording and mixing. Add to that my collaborative sensibility and you've got a creative space that caters to like-minded musical artists.

As the proprietor, producer, recordist and mixer at Studio 411, I bring a laundry list of skills, spanning the spectrum from art to craft. I've spent 20+ years as a composer writing for film, TV and advertising and in styles that range from orchestral to jazz, country to punk, and Broadway to rock and roll.
On top of that I've always been a songwriter, instrumentalist and live performer.
In pursuit of those musical adventures, I realized early on that beyond creating the music itself, I really love producing, recording and mixing it.
And out of that combination of skills, enthusiasm and experience, Studio 411 was born.
I’m about collaboration and working hard to meet creative challenges with humor, humility and candor.
I'm about serving your music, giving it exactly what it needs, always aware that while I take a lot of pride in my work, it's ultimately your work.

“Tim enabled us to make our best album possible — sonically and performance-wise. The combination of his easy-going, quick-witted, and sincere nature, his expert musicianship, and the comfortable and intimate surroundings of his studio allowed us to capture our best work. To make recordings of songs where each has a rich depth of sound and ear-grabbing nuance that pull the listener in enough to want to listen repeatedly takes skill, patience, and focus. Tim embodies all of these traits along with a ferocious attention to detail. In the end, not only did we get an album that we are hugely proud of and love sharing, we truly had a fantastic time making it.”
“I have been playing drums professionally for almost 50 years, and in that time I've realized that my experience in the recording studio is almost always either heaven or hell. Whichever way it goes, I always feel at least some stress about time (both kinds), and making the people I am recording with/for happy. My experience at Studio 411 was a welcome change from that norm. A relaxed and supportive environment, an excellent mic set-up and the added bonus of all involved having FUN at the session I seriously hope I get more work that ends up being tracked there. Thank you, Tim!”
“Tim always goes the extra mile and makes my mixes sound great. He mixed my orchestral score for Aliens Stole My Body under a tight deadline and with an ear for detail I was looking for on each cue. I got mixes that were dynamic and with just the nuance I needed.”
“Working with Tim was an amazing experience. The time spent in his studio helped us develop our sound in ways I could not imagine. He kept us in time, enhanced all of our harmonies and consistently added the perfect percussion. He pushed us to do more but was always able to keep us from doing too much. Tim does it all with no ego and a great sense of humor. (And I should know…I'm hilarious.) We can't wait to record with him again.”
By design, Studio 411 is at the same time cool and warm, the ideal place to create music in a relaxed environment.
